Books Reflecting First Nations, Mètis, and Inuit Perspectives
The following books reflect the residential school experience in different ways. They have all been identified as age-appropriate for children under 12 by reputable organizations, like First Nations Education Steering Committee, and The Project of Heart. These are great resources to use in order to discuss residential schools. Although, the ages of these books range from ages 4-12, they are also recommended for a junior high, and high school levels.
Below, is a link that has an abundance of books regarding First Nations, Mètis, and Inuit Peoples. These books are excellent! Furthermore, they are easy to incorporate into everyday subjects. Even, having these books in classroom libraries would be beneficial to students.
